Hey, abortion advocates! Keep talking!

Gosh, yesterday I posted the most despicable, creepy video from the abortion crowd celebrating Roe v. Wade and 55 million dead babies, and then I read this doozy of an article, by an unapologetic abortion enthusiast, Mary Elizabeth Williams, who admits quite openly that the unborn most certainly are human beings, but that killing humans is often A-OK:

Yawn, yeah…so what? What's a little killing among friends?

I encourage you to read the whole thing (and I am so incredibly grateful for her honesty), but here are some of the lowlights.

Ms. Williams first affirms the scientific fact that an unborn child is a human being:

"...I know that throughout my own pregnancies, I never wavered for a moment in the belief that I was carrying a human life inside of me."

And she then affirms that some human beings are less equal than others:

"Here’s the complicated reality in which we live: All life is not equal."

Is anyone else disturbed when one person declares someone else's life not as worthy as, say, her own? And, on what authority does she say that all human life is not equal?

"Yet a fetus can be a human life without having the same rights as the woman in whose body it resides. She’s the boss. Her life and what is right for her circumstances and her health should automatically trump the rights of the non-autonomous entity inside of her. Always."

According to…? Mary Elizabeth Williams? Again, not sure as to her authority on determining which human beings are worthy to retain their lives? I do see that she holds the woman as being the "boss" of the child inside her. Well, I can tell you that I am certainly the boss of my children, too, but I have no right whatsoever to execute them, do I?

"When we try to act like a pregnancy doesn’t involve human life, we wind up drawing stupid semantic lines in the sand: first trimester abortion vs. second trimester vs. late term, dancing around the issue trying to decide if there’s a single magic moment when a fetus becomes a person. Are you human only when you’re born? Only when you’re viable outside of the womb? Are you less of a human life when you look like a tadpole than when you can suck on your thumb?"

Well at least we agree on something! She and Peter Singer have my respect for exposing the illogic of drawing arbitrary lines for degrees of humanity.

And then later, a tender moment. Sort of:

"...I can say anecdotally that I’m a mom who loved the lives she incubated from the moment she peed on those sticks, and is also now well over 40 and in an experimental drug trial. If by some random fluke I learned today I was pregnant, you bet your ass I’d have an abortion. I’d have the World’s Greatest Abortion."

blink, blink

Uh, unfortunately you read that right. By the way, she calls the pro-life movement, which wants everyone to live, "diabolical".

But let's get to her great finale:

"...I would put the life of a mother over the life of a fetus every single time — even if I still need to acknowledge my conviction that the fetus is indeed a life. A life worth sacrificing."  [emphasis mine.]

Yep. A life worth sacrificing. She said that. There are quite a few ugly movements and ideologies around the globe and in every era that could have used that slogan, too… and every one of them included human rights atrocities. In a morally ordered world, Williams' words should send a chill straight up your spine.

There have been some excellent rebuttals to this woman's shameless piece, including here and here, but the best encapsulation of it I've seen comes from JoAnna, who said succinctly:

What her "argument" boils down to is "The strong can kill the weak."

Bingo!

Truth? Goodness? Beauty? Nah. Try, survival of the fittest; might makes right; he with the biggest guns wins. The strong can kill the weak.

The left wants low-information Americans to think that liberals are the ones who love and care for the weak, the vulnerable, the marginalized, the voiceless, but it's simply not true. I'm grateful that the honest voices in the abortion movement are getting louder and bolder. They need exposure, where the regular folks can finally hear them and be rightly horrified.

This woman's philosophy and the depraved content of my last two posts is the lurid, dark, creepy, and ghoulish place where abortion advocates are today.

I ask, why would any decent person want to stand there with them?

  1. Leila,

I am sickened and horrified by your last two posts. I am hoping that those who are truly confused and misled will see the light as more of these types of articles and videos surface.

  2. Articles like this make it harder and harder for politicians like Obama to claim "No one likes abortion, but it's a necessary evil". It turns out lots of sick people DO *like* abortion just fine... creepy, like you said.

  4. According to MEW's website (http://www.maryelizabethwilliams.net/8201.html), she has been battling cancer for about 2 years. I wonder if her position on abortion would change if the healthcare system wrote off people her age who have cancer as not worth (economically viable) spending limited resources to save. After all, her analogy with the unborn is the same. Unfortunately, if it comes to that it will be too late.

We need a few (5?) righteous people to save the whole.

  6. And here's an abortionist who tells a pro-life person that he hopes her 12 year old gets gang-raped and pregnant with twins.

Oh, and did you know that people are a plague on the earth? Since eliminating plagues is a good thing, doesn't that justify genocide?

    Stay klassy, abortion supporters.

  7. I've noticed a lot of this kind of thing lately. For example, I was reading yesterday how Andrew Cuomo wants to remove all restrictions on abortion in NY--with an abortion rate already at 41%. Whatever happened to rare?

I think this shows us the difference between modernism and post-modernism. The moderns rejected Christianity, but hung onto the morals that stemmed from it. Post-modernism has "grown up." It is more logical and honest. Now we can see what rejecting Christianity really means, because the moral law is being thrown out too. My hope is that it will cause some people who have been sitting on the fence to wake up.

  8. Connie, exactly! The Democratic Party removed the "rare" part from their Platform in 2008. It was deliberate. If abortion is a good (which the left increasingly believes) then why should it be rare? They are correct in their logic, even as their premise is evil.

Yes, let's hope folks wake up.

  9. Not only does all of this make me sick...but when I really think about what the world has come to (admitting that, yes, it is a human being, but it's better to kill it because it's not as valuable as me and it doesn't deserve to be born)..it makes me want to cry. It really does. It makes me soooo heartbroken that I just want to sit here and sob over it. How did we every get to the point of pretty much justifying infanticide/genocide?? I will never understand....

  10. Between your last two posts and a video that "NFPandme" put up on her blog, I'm horrified and greatly saddened.

I didn't realize one could actually rank how great or run of the mill, or just mediocre, procuring an abortion could be. Is there some title belt to be won? Is this some twisted ape-like chest-pounding bragging over a sporting event?

What makes a person shout proudly that she'd obtain the World's Greatest Abortion? Is this is supposed to be some twisted commentary on her exercise of freedom, that having her child done away with would be so powerfully liberating that it would be labelled, "World's Greatest"?

Or would it be "World's Greatest" simply because the strong smash the weak?

I don't follow why anyone would declare anything about abortion being "greatest", other than greatest sadness.

  12. Agnes and Rochelle, this is why we MUST stop being silent. Most Americans have no clue that one of the major political parties in America is an ally of this filth. If you read the more recent comments on the previous post, even pro-"choice" Johanne finds the video from the other day very disturbing and degrading, and she said she had no idea that is the way the abortion movement expresses itself in the mainstream now (and admits she has not yet pondered why that is the case). Doesn't mean she will suddenly become pro-life, but that's the same thing a liberal relative of mine said. She had no idea! So, we MUST educate and expose this kind of horror to regular Americans. Remember, Salon is a respected, "mainstream" liberal site. Liberalism has become depraved…. the mainstreaming of evil and deviance. But again, most people do not know. Even self-described liberals. We must not be silent anymore.

    Nubby, well said.

  14. Why do you think there was (and is) such venom for Sarah Palin?? Because not only did she proudly support a life that, in the eyes of abortion activists, *should* have been aborted in her own special needs child, but then went on to also show firsthand how teenage pregnancy is not a death sentence for the whole family.

  15. So, so sad that some people can really think like that.

  16. This is what needs to be published. Unfortunately the bubble on the Left dismisses Pro-Lifers as crazy (and sadly a lot of them seem to do themselves no favors by saying dumb things that can easily be exploited in soundbites.)

  17. It is almost too sad to read, and yet, people need to get their heads out the sand and start facing reality.

  18. There are two sides to the pro choice movement. The first side is convinced that fetuses aren't really humans/people. The second side is convinced that it's OK to kill humans/people. The former side is factually incorrect, and the latter side is morally incorrect. I used to belong basically to the former side, convinced that there's a time in everyone's life when they become "people" or some such nonsense. I didn't like abortion, but thought it should be allowed.

Now I know that a child is biologically human from the beginning of a pregnancy, and that there's no concrete distinction between humans who are people, and humans who aren't. (beyond personal, subjective, meaningless ones). The latter side has sometimes written against the former side, and thank God for that. Honesty is always good.

I've joined that side, the reality-based side, in acknowledging the facts. But I can't stand their ethics. I can't stand it when people think that killing human beings is all right. Might does not make right; the strong should not kill the weak; no human being should have a "boss" who decides whether they live or die.

    I can't stand abortion anymore.

  19. Chris, for a 16-year-old, you continue to astound me with the clarity and depth of your thought. This is so brilliantly stated:

There are two sides to the pro choice movement. The first side is convinced that fetuses aren't really humans/people. The second side is convinced that it's OK to kill humans/people. The former side is factually incorrect, and the latter side is morally incorrect.

I honestly don't think I've ever heard it stated so well.

  21. So I have this child and later, when he or she is let's say two or three, I discover it has a disorder and will end up costing me thousands of dollars and disrupt my life. I'm sure there is a bill out there waiting to pass that will allow me to terminate this child due to inconvenience. It's going to happen, people. We are headed in that direction.

  22. DD, the "wrongful birth" lawsuits that have begun are similar to the mindset you just described. It's unbelievable.

  23. "The World's Greatest Abortion."

These words are the nails in Jesus' hands and feet. He loves the little children so much, it must kill Him every time a mother kills her own baby. For it was Him who had created them. But as He says, "a mother can forsake her child but I will not abandon you." The souls of these babies are safe in the arms of the Lord who will shower them in His love and they will feel no pain. And perhaps one day they will be reunited with their mothers.

  24. I know this thread has pretty much died, but I just saw this in the New York Times I really wonder what you make of it?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/02/us/church-documents-released-after-years-of-resistance.html?smid=fb-share&_r=0

When you say "how could any decent person want to stand with them?" (regarding pro choice movement) can you understand that people feel exactly the same way about Catholics when they read this stuff? I'm curious what your thought process is and how you have responded to such comments, if you have.

  25. The difference, Johanne, is that what Cardinal Mahoney et al did was against Church teaching. The church has never taught that it is acceptable to cover up a priest's crimes, especially when it involves the abuse of children.

The pro-choice movement, on the other hand, sees nothing wrong with the behavior and actions described above and even encourages it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Johanne, I have greatly disliked Cardinal Mahoney since I became aware of the way he ran his diocese (from the time I came back to the Church 18 years ago). He led one of the most dissenting, heterodox chanceries in the nation. So many of his people stood against authentic Church teaching, to the point that even his catechetical congresses were a complete scandal to the faithful. I am disgusted with what he has done, and this last is abhorrent. As JoAnna said, what he has done is against what the Church teaches about sin. If he and all the abusive priests had followed Church teaching, none of this would have happened, correct?

Someone who stands with the Church and her teachings would invariably stand against what Mahoney did.

Contrast that with the abortion advocates' deepest held beliefs and convictions, i.e., the killing of unborn humans as a good. That's how it's seen and that's what they believe. There is no dichotomy or disharmony there. They following pro-abort "doctrine" in holding up the killing of children as good.
